Facebook retargeting can be used in a number of ways and is based on your advertising goals, or objectives. There are four main goals in retargeting ads: build awareness, reminder advertising, close a sale, and invite repeat business. When retargeting is used in conjunction with your advertising goals, ads become very effective and drive your return on investment up. 

Let’s use one of my favorite Italian restaurant in Ekkamai, called La Tana. The marketing goal for this restaurant was to increase patronage during lunchtime (between 11-2pm). FB ads are perfect for restaurants. Because, let’s face it, everyone on Facebook likes to eat. When targeting your audience, you want to focus on your ideal or current customer(s).
It is important to have clarity on what you are looking for from each tool so that you can calculate your return on investment. For example, if a customer responded to a Facebook ad and purchased a $20 product and you spent $5 to advertise, your return on investment would be $15. Facebook executives probably feel that allowing users to force their friends into Groups is the only way to get a critical mass to use the feature (remember that 5 percent figure for Friend Lists). The company used a similar strategy to turn its Photos feature into one of the largest repositories of drunken party pictures the world has ever known—although a minority of users actually upload photos to Facebook, anybody can "tag" his or her friends in these pictures, and a whopping 95 percent of users have been tagged.

Handle sensitive issues in a private message. If I delete a post, I usually send the author of the post a private message and explain why their post was deleted and make myself available to answer any questions. Ninety percent of the time, they didn’t realize they were breaking any rules or they posted in the group by mistake. Be nice, be firm, and make sure they understand that you’re not trying to be mean or unreasonable, you’re just keeping the group on topic so that the experience is better for everyone.

For example, let’s say a user is shopping for a new car and searches for Jeep Grand Cherokees for sale in their area on AutoTrader. Later, when they go on Facebook, they see an ad from AutoTrader for a Jeep Grand Cherokee for sale near them that fits their search criteria, rather than one of AutoTrader’s generic ads. What stands true, though, is that after a week of retargeting, you may want to stop focusing on immediate purchases and aim for longer-term relationships with your website’s visitors. That is, you should try to keep in touch with your potential customers until they’re ready to convert instead of trying to convince them to convert and then giving up when they don’t. For example, an auto dealership gets a large number of visitors who search for specific makes and models, but they do not click the call to action “schedule a test drive.” The dealership uses this information to create ads that provide additional sales information on the cars the visitors were looking at, which further helps develop the user’s interest in the vehicle, leading them closer to converting users to take action, such as schedule a test drive or value trade-in.
The way that consumers communicate is changing rapidly, as new tools are available that allow for quick, meaningful interactions. Instant messaging tools for mobile devices have grown exponentially, and along with them, tools like Facebook Messenger (with over 800 million users) and the Facebook-owned WhatsApp (with over 1 billion users) are growing too.
