All about FaceBook Marketing with retargeting

Customers seldom go to a website and purchase after their first visit. It’s even more rare for a customer to convert after clicking on just one ad, especially if they’re unfamiliar with your brand or your price point is relatively high. In most cases, there’s a long journey to get customers to convert and Facebook is uniquely positioned to handle the buyer’s journey along each step in a way that other channels can’t.
The next step in the process is to consider the flow and the content people are first drawn to on your website and build an audience along the points of conversation, not just based on time. This is especially helpful for content-heavy sites, or for products that are heavily researched and have longer sales cycles. In a longer sales cycle, you can expect more emotion and authority-building to be involved along the way. How to Make a Post Shareable on Facebook
Start with a brand awareness ad that’s simply meant to introduce you to your audience. Sure, some may click and convert immediately, but there’s a good chance many won’t. That’s ok though- you can run a retargeting campaign that shows your ad to users who saved or engaged with your previous ad. At this point, you can focus on conversions or lead generation a little more heavily.
Naturally, shorter videos get more complete views. This is why GIFs have become increasingly valuable. As noted by WordStream, not only does it stand out from static images, it does not require the same amount of investment, effort-wise compared to videos, carousel, and lead ads. Additionally, you can even repurpose existing video assets as Facebook GIF ads—making it a win on repeat. Facebook Zuckerberg Oculus Iribe OC3 Keynote (FULL) Social VR, Touch, ReactVR
A computer sales and repair store is running a promotion on external hard drives and they want to use Facebook to advertise this sale. To avoid wasting ad spend, they target ads by user’s needs. Using the info from the Facebook Pixel, they create a custom audience of those who have recently visited the blog post on how to back up a computer. They then create an ad specific to those users, explaining the benefits of external hard drives and the current promotion. Maddie Explains Snapchat Streaks | Loose Women

Simply put, don’t ask people to give you information you won’t be using anyway. For example, if you sell apparel online, you probably don’t need to know the person’s job title or relationship status. Keep your form simple to attract more subscribers, or add extra fields if you’re okay with fewer email subscribers but more qualified leads with higher interest.
Let’s use one of my favorite Italian restaurant in Ekkamai, called La Tana. The marketing goal for this restaurant was to increase patronage during lunchtime (between 11-2pm). FB ads are perfect for restaurants. Because, let’s face it, everyone on Facebook likes to eat. When targeting your audience, you want to focus on your ideal or current customer(s).
Now there is one other thing worth mentioning here.  There is an optional section where you can set a limit for the campaign.  How much you spend is usually managed in the next section at the Ad Set level.  However if you know with certainty that you have exactly $100 to spend on this campaign and you don’t want to spend any more.  You can set that amount here.  To set a limit at the campaign level the minimum amount is $100.
In the future, we can expect even more great tools for video marketing from Facebook. They have already expanded into creative video tools with virtual reality devices like Oculus Rift, and have goals to become the top video marketing site on the Internet, surpassing YouTube. Video is one of the most powerful tools available to advertisers right now, as we’ll explore more in a later chapter of this book. TUNE Partner Marketing Platform: Pixel Based Tracking

For example, if you’re selling high-class luxury products, your audience may rather opt into your email newsletter for exclusive news and something only they as members (read: email subscribers) can get. On the other hand, if your audience is more price-sensitive, promising special discounts and other deals in your email newsletters may be a more appealing ad for them.
A bar hosts a weekly Ladies Night and they are looking to increase attendance for tomorrow night. They segment ads by location, age, and gender. First, they hyper-focus location to show ads only to those within a 10-mile radius of their bar. Second, the majority of their best customers are 24 to 35, so they target ads to users in that age range. Lastly, they know men and women look for different things in a night out, so they create two ads geared towards each. Facebook executives probably feel that allowing users to force their friends into Groups is the only way to get a critical mass to use the feature (remember that 5 percent figure for Friend Lists). The company used a similar strategy to turn its Photos feature into one of the largest repositories of drunken party pictures the world has ever known—although a minority of users actually upload photos to Facebook, anybody can "tag" his or her friends in these pictures, and a whopping 95 percent of users have been tagged.
Only a single account is all that you need: Having FB shop on your store makes it easier for you to display the changes like the modified button colors, addition or deletion of products and more. The moment you make the changes on your store, it automatically updates your Facebook store, too. Hence, you don’t have to manage the different inventories on your store and Facebook store separately. Selling B2B to Millennials? Forget it.

For example, a local art gallery owner had been struggling to target audiences on Facebook, as they didn’t have a clear ideal customer. Previously, the best way was to target users who had liked a similar gallery’s Facebook page. However, using the data from the Facebook Pixel, they were able to create lookalike audiences. Now they target Facebook users who match their average site visitor, helping to expand their reach and gain the awareness of new customers.

Voice searching is an ingenious bit of technology. After all, who doesn’t like being able to simply say out loud to the nearest smart speaker, “Place an order for school supplies”? The site developed organically, bubbling up in Facebook groups where people found themselves connecting to buy and sell goods. The trend inspired the social network to establish Marketplace as an official commerce destination on the site.Taking the retail pulse from its hybrid perch as a social network/commerce vehicle, Facebook Marketplace sees Instagram-powered and artificial-intelligence informed shopping experiences, as well as “creators,” the next iteration of influencers, gaining momentum in 2019, according to Deb Liu, Facebook marketplace vice president, in an interview.

While Facebook’s retargeting campaigns tend to be more expensive than targeting a cold audience, these campaigns help you actually reach a more responsive audience. Not only does Facebook offer a variety of retargeting options and immersive ad units that aren’t available on other platforms, but it also boasts both a higher audience inventory and lower conversion costs. Ultimately, retargeting on Facebook is valuable to your business.
Timing can also be seasonal. Retailers that do most of their business during the Q4 gifting season can create a custom audience targeting those who don’t buy from them year-round. Susan uses the example of women visiting a men’s retailer site based on clicks from a holiday gift guide. Knowing that traffic from this particular piece of content is likely driven by people who aren’t shopping for themselves, you can retarget this audience during other gift-giving times of the year such as Father’s Day. Customer service is essential, but not everyone feels comfortable talking to a real person on the phone or has the time to do it over email. That’s what makes chatbots so convenient. These are little AI helpers integrated into websites that can answer questions and fulfill requests quickly -- and many can accomplish this without sacrificing personality.
But while Facebook Groups may prove indispensable to a lot of users, this strategy also raises a number of worries. Users can easily find themselves a member of a handful of groups they never wanted to belong to, which creates the opportunity for mischief. For example, TechCrunch editor Michael Arrington recently added Zuckerberg (with whom he is Facebook friends) to a fictitious pedophilia-related group as a way of proving the point.
Facebook retargeting may be geared towards capturing those who have already visited your site, but this doesn’t mean you can’t still use the retargeting information to build brand awareness by reaching those who haven’t yet heard of you. Advertisers can create “lookalike” audiences based on the data from the Facebook Pixel to create ads geared towards new customers who match the profile of present customers.
For example, a ski and bike company should group users by the main product types the business offers, such as skiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers, and road cyclists. A customer who previously purchased a road bike would be a good candidate for a promotion on new clipless road bike pedals, whereas the customer who rented a mountain bike won’t likely be interested in road biking gear.
$5-10 dollar a day is a feasible budget for most small or local business such a La Tana to get their feet wet in FB advertising. After you have gotten the right converting ad formula down, feel free to increase your budget an extra $5-10 dollars a day. Of course, the higher the budget, the greater your reach. I recently worked on a Facebook ad project for a supplement company. Their budget was  a whopping $100 per day(estimated daily reach of 8,000-21,000 people).

At DigitalMarketer, we opted to create a closed group, so our customers would be able to locate our groups easier. This does result in an influx of requests to join from unqualified members, but the tradeoff is worth it—we let the world know that we have a tribe of thousands of digital marketing enthusiasts, and use the “publicity” of an exclusive group to build FOMO (“fear of missing out”).
Be consistent in naming URLs and use referral URLs to easily differentiate among content grouping. You can then build a separate custom audience inside of Facebook for each group and let them grow over time. When you’re ready to market to a given subset, you can amplify information or products to people based on the content that they’ve consumed from your site. Because they’ve already indicated some interest in your brand, they’ll be more receptive to your ads. We Learn Surprising Facts About Millennials and Gen Z

Hi Rob, thanks for the advice. I have been playing around with Facebook ads for around 6 months now and despite the fact that I get some good traffic at reasonable prices I am still getting a high bounce rate and a relatively low conversion rate. I think part of the issue may be that I have not optimized for mobile/desktop so I will take your advice and put a bit more focus on making the ads work better for different technology.
We have already been talking about how Facebook marketing can be an innovative way of taking your business on the global platform. Every year, Facebook marketing strategies change for the benefit of eCommerce marketers. Facebook wants to be your one-stop shop for news, products, and updates from your friends. With the world changing a mile a minute, it’s hard to scale, differentiate yourself, and maintain trust in the ever-changing marketing world. It is better for the eCommerce marketers to stay updated with the Facebook marketing trends for the coming year. The more you plan ahead, the better equipped you feel to manage those changes when they happen. Facebook Ad Disapproved? This Is Probably Why

If you haven’t encountered a photo with a CTA to press and hold, then chances are you’re an Android user. The feature (only available for iOS users), basically allows people to physically press a photo before taking them to either a video or an image slideshow. When they lift their fingers off the screen, they're taken back to the static photo (here’s a guide on how to make one). How to Create Facebook Ads That WORK in 2019

Every company should ensure that its security is thorough. Even if customers do not notice it, they deserve the utmost respect when it comes to their privacy, data and financial details. Not every company promises this, though -- and customers are starting to notice. With the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) taking effect in Europe this year, consumers are beginning to pay more attention to how businesses handle their information.

To track the actions you need to integrate them within the pixel base code. For example, an ecommerce site that wants to track purchases will have to enter a code in the thank-you or final confirmation page that is loaded immediately after a successful purchase (see the example in the next image) in the thank you page (the final confirmation page).

You can create a Custom Audience from your list, Facebook Pixel data or Facebook SDK to specify the people you want to reach with your remarketing campaign. Your pixel or SDK can automatically add people to a Custom Audience based on the specific actions you’re most interested in targeting, like people who visit your site homepage or people who view a product but do not make a purchase. This can help you create ads that are relevant to where people are in their customer journey.
