Recently Facebook release retargeting features to allow users set up Facebook retargeting, or remarketing as some people call it. In the past, you could only set up Facebook retargeting through larger advertisers. At each of my last three keynote addresses, I was asked this simple question: “What do you think is going to happen with marketing next year?” There are a lot of marketing speakers and sales speakers already shouting out the trends for 2019. It’s still only summer, but people are already trying to look ahead and see what’s around the curve. And I understand why: The world is changing a mile a minute, and it’s hard to scale, differentiate yourself, and maintain trust in the ever-changing marketing world. The more you can plan ahead, the better equipped you feel to manage those changes when they happen.
Facebook ad specs vary based on the type of Facebook ad. For example, the image size for a single image ad is 1,200 x 628 pixels with an image ratio of 1.91:1, whereas slideshow image size is 1,280 x 720 pixels with an image ratio of 16:9, 1:1 or 2:3. Facebook retargeting ads display solely to an audience that has previously visited (and taken certain actions on) your website. To do this, advertisers install the Facebook Pixel, a free, short piece of code advertisers install on their side to track these visitors. It links your site visitors to your Facebook Ads Manager account, allowing you to create Facebook marketing campaigns that target your recent site visitors with Facebook ads.
However, businesses that aren’t online-based, but have multi-page or content-rich websites that would find user data insightful, should also use retargeting. For example, a winery has two main types of consumers: those interested in tours and tasting and those interesting in hiring their venue for private events. The winery could use retargeting to segment site visitors by their interest, and then display ads specific to each of those user’s interests. 2019 Facebook Business Page Tutorial (For Beginners) Step by step

An example of this is B2B products. You might draw prospects to your site with a white paper they can download, and then offer a demo. Following a demo, you can schedule a free trial and so forth. As you break down and look at the sales funnel, you get a sense of what the audiences need at each individual point of conversion along this multi-step process. Each audience will have different needs at each point and you want to be able to speak to them differently. Facebook Marketing: CREATING HIGHLY ENGAGING POSTS on FB

You already know that video is imperative. It used to be one aspect of your marketing strategy, but now you need an entire strategy just for your videos! People watch countless hours of video every day, and YouTube is the largest search engine after its sibling Google. Whether it’s on Facebook, Instagram or some other platform, video is not going anywhere.

Facebook retargeting lets advertisers discover and reach warm leads. Using the Facebook Pixel, advertisers track their site visitors and their actions to build audiences and better understand visitors. Campaigns are then designed to speak to the audience and display ads on those visitor’s Facebook pages, proving highly effective in that statistically warm leads convert best.
If you have hundreds or even thousands of Facebook friends, it's easy to cross over into too-much-information territory. After all, who wants their parents or boss to see everything they put up for their friends? That's why Facebook has long allowed users to create Friend Lists, which let people manage their privacy settings for different groups of friends. APPLE PARK - The Spaceship
A real estate brokerage finds a large number of site visitors are passively browsing high-end homes for fun, which they determined by finding that these visitors never contact the brokerage for more information, nor clicked links for mortgage pre-approval. They want to target ads to users who are ready to purchase a home to avoid wasting ad spend, so they build campaigns targeting those who searched for homes in certain price ranges and who visited the mortgage rates page.

But there is a problem with Facebook's Friend Lists feature: Nobody uses it. According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, just 5 percent of Facebook users had made a list as of October 2010. Now, this isn't a company that lets its technology stagnate—witness Facebook's recent push into e-mail with the Messages service, introduced as an apparent competitor with Gmail. After the failure of Lists, Facebook decided to start over and created Facebook Groups, a new friend-dividing feature that uses an opt-out strategy as a way of reaching widespread adoption.

Facebook limits the maximum amount of time that people will stay in a custom audience, based on website traffic, to 180 days. After this time period, those in the website custom audience will be removed unless they revisit the website. You can stay top-of-mind by simply creating a custom audience of people who visited your URL within the past few months and run remarketing ads before they’re removed by Facebook.

Video can be a very effective tool for gaining trust and credibility with your customers. In many cases, consumers are more comfortable making a purchase decision if they’ve been able to view a video about the product or service beforehand. In the past, there weren’t as many opportunities for consumers to see videos, due to low Internet connection speeds, but now, the video marketing possibilities have increased drastically, especially for mobile viewers. Although automation might cover basic tasks, it’s important to do your best to add a personal touch or offer direct help when possible. I was recently speaking to some contacts at a consulting company that had done an amazing job scaling marketing communication, but they still made a rule to visit their clients in person once every year to see how they could be helpful or improve the relationship and get to know the people better. They said that when they do this, the clients stay longer and spend more money.

Did you know that “live content” drives three times more engagement on Facebook? Well, this was concluded in a study done by Social Media Today back in 2016. The option of Facebook Live is all about displaying the content that’s about in-the-moment. You can go live by displaying the live office events, products launches, and sales too. Going Live engages a lot of audience on-spot. On the other hand, Facebook Stories are in-the-moment content clips. Followed by Instagram stories popularity, Facebook had to be in the queue to let their users do it too. New products, discounts, testimonials and what not can be a part of the Facebook stories? Investing your time and efforts into these would be seen gaining popularity in the coming year.

The tricky part with Facebook is that it only lets you operate within predefined targeting options. You can, for example, target people who have visited your website within a defined period of time (the last 7 days, 30 days, etc.), however, there’s still no option to target repeat visitors who have been to your website several times but haven’t finished their purchase yet.

Facebook executives probably feel that allowing users to force their friends into Groups is the only way to get a critical mass to use the feature (remember that 5 percent figure for Friend Lists). The company used a similar strategy to turn its Photos feature into one of the largest repositories of drunken party pictures the world has ever known—although a minority of users actually upload photos to Facebook, anybody can "tag" his or her friends in these pictures, and a whopping 95 percent of users have been tagged.
Hi Rob, thanks for the advice. I have been playing around with Facebook ads for around 6 months now and despite the fact that I get some good traffic at reasonable prices I am still getting a high bounce rate and a relatively low conversion rate. I think part of the issue may be that I have not optimized for mobile/desktop so I will take your advice and put a bit more focus on making the ads work better for different technology.
It is important to have clarity on what you are looking for from each tool so that you can calculate your return on investment. For example, if a customer responded to a Facebook ad and purchased a $20 product and you spent $5 to advertise, your return on investment would be $15. Over time, if you can, also track the total lifetime value of a client for even more accurate returns. Mark Zuckerberg Set Up Andy Samberg's Facebook Profile
Every prospective buyer visits your stage with varying levels of intent. Some users may just be researching whether your product or service fits their needs while others have decided they want a product or service you offer and are shopping around for the best quality or price. Understanding where a user is in the buyer sales funnel gives advertisers the opportunity to design ads that speak to their potential customers.
At DigitalMarketer, we opted to create a closed group, so our customers would be able to locate our groups easier. This does result in an influx of requests to join from unqualified members, but the tradeoff is worth it—we let the world know that we have a tribe of thousands of digital marketing enthusiasts, and use the “publicity” of an exclusive group to build FOMO (“fear of missing out”).

Facebook is a meeting place for 20% of the worlds population.  That’s 1 in 5 people.  It is also the largest collection of data on the worlds population that ever existed in the history of humanity.  It has data on its 2 Billion members and on anyone who uses the internet and visits a website that has Facebook tracking code…  Whether you are logged in as a member of Facebook or not.
Now there is one other thing worth mentioning here.  There is an optional section where you can set a limit for the campaign.  How much you spend is usually managed in the next section at the Ad Set level.  However if you know with certainty that you have exactly $100 to spend on this campaign and you don’t want to spend any more.  You can set that amount here.  To set a limit at the campaign level the minimum amount is $100.

Google Analytics is an extremely powerful analytics tool for Facebook advertising. Advertisers can gain a lot more information from Google Analytics than just a user’s location, gender, interests, and device types. Google Analytics is a reliable way to track conversions, which show you the entire path a user took to convert. This level of information can then be used to create custom audiences with targeted ads, increasing your ROI and conversions.
