All about FaceBook Marketing with retargeting

Facebook retargeting lets advertisers discover and reach warm leads. Using the Facebook Pixel, advertisers track their site visitors and their actions to build audiences and better understand visitors. Campaigns are then designed to speak to the audience and display ads on those visitor’s Facebook pages, proving highly effective in that statistically warm leads convert best.
Did you know that “live content” drives three times more engagement on Facebook? Well, this was concluded in a study done by Social Media Today back in 2016. The option of Facebook Live is all about displaying the content that’s about in-the-moment. You can go live by displaying the live office events, products launches, and sales too. Going Live engages a lot of audience on-spot. On the other hand, Facebook Stories are in-the-moment content clips. Followed by Instagram stories popularity, Facebook had to be in the queue to let their users do it too. New products, discounts, testimonials and what not can be a part of the Facebook stories? Investing your time and efforts into these would be seen gaining popularity in the coming year. Millennials vs Generation Z - How Do They Compare & What's the Difference?
The tricky part with Facebook is that it only lets you operate within predefined targeting options. You can, for example, target people who have visited your website within a defined period of time (the last 7 days, 30 days, etc.), however, there’s still no option to target repeat visitors who have been to your website several times but haven’t finished their purchase yet.

Facebook retargeting may be geared towards capturing those who have already visited your site, but this doesn’t mean you can’t still use the retargeting information to build brand awareness by reaching those who haven’t yet heard of you. Once you've set up the Facebook pixel, the pixel will fire when someone takes an action on your website. Examples of actions include adding an item to their shopping cart or making a purchase. The pixel receives these actions, or events, which you can view on your Facebook pixel page in Events Manager. From there, you'll be able to see the actions that your customers take. You'll also have options to reach those customers again through future Facebook ads.

But there is a problem with Facebook's Friend Lists feature: Nobody uses it. According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, just 5 percent of Facebook users had made a list as of October 2010. Now, this isn't a company that lets its technology stagnate—witness Facebook's recent push into e-mail with the Messages service, introduced as an apparent competitor with Gmail. After the failure of Lists, Facebook decided to start over and created Facebook Groups, a new friend-dividing feature that uses an opt-out strategy as a way of reaching widespread adoption. I did want to mention a recent test that I did where in addition to the call to action below, I placed a link in the text area above the image.  The result out of 5000 clicks? Only 5% of the clicks came from the link up top.  95% of the clicks came from the call to action below.  I believe that people are becoming conditioned to engage that section of an ad.

For example, if you’re selling high-class luxury products, your audience may rather opt into your email newsletter for exclusive news and something only they as members (read: email subscribers) can get. On the other hand, if your audience is more price-sensitive, promising special discounts and other deals in your email newsletters may be a more appealing ad for them.
If you are to believe the stats about the Facebook advertising, you should take a look at this study done by Sprout Social. According to this study, 93% of marketers use Facebook advertising regularly which translates to about 3 million businesses that use Facebook to market their business. Simply put, don’t ask people to give you information you won’t be using anyway. For example, if you sell apparel online, you probably don’t need to know the person’s job title or relationship status. Keep your form simple to attract more subscribers, or add extra fields if you’re okay with fewer email subscribers but more qualified leads with higher interest.

Upload your vehicle catalog with details such as make, model and year, then automatically generate ads that show the most compelling inventory to the right audiences. Use automotive inventory ads to direct people toward vehicle detail pages, lead submission forms or other valuable places—and continually show your most relevant vehicles to potential auto buyers.
To track the actions you need to integrate them within the pixel base code. For example, an ecommerce site that wants to track purchases will have to enter a code in the thank-you or final confirmation page that is loaded immediately after a successful purchase (see the example in the next image) in the thank you page (the final confirmation page).
The next step in the process is to consider the flow and the content people are first drawn to on your website and build an audience along the points of conversation, not just based on time. This is especially helpful for content-heavy sites, or for products that are heavily researched and have longer sales cycles. In a longer sales cycle, you can expect more emotion and authority-building to be involved along the way.

Hi Rob, thanks for the advice. I have been playing around with Facebook ads for around 6 months now and despite the fact that I get some good traffic at reasonable prices I am still getting a high bounce rate and a relatively low conversion rate. I think part of the issue may be that I have not optimized for mobile/desktop so I will take your advice and put a bit more focus on making the ads work better for different technology.
For example, through Google Analytics, a restaurant discovered that a large percent of users who clicked on their lunch ad ended up using their online reservation system to make dinner reservations. They had not expected to get dinner reservations from those searching for lunch spots, but, given this, they designed better website flows between web pages, leading to more reservations, and they also started offering lunch reservations.
Retargeting and remarketing effectively share the same goal of closing sales using warm leads. The major difference is the delivery of ad delivery. Remarketing usually uses email to contact warm leads, whereas retargeting uses ads such as Facebook to reach warm leads. Retargeting tends to outperform remarketing, as users are more receptive to Facebook ads than undesired emails.

Increases customer loyalty: Customer loyalty is something that every eCommerce business looks forward to and spends because it is something that brings back the customer over and over again. It is something that social media optimization strategies look forward to. With the help of Facebook ads, you have the opportunity to aware, interact, and provide the fans with your products or services that build loyalty and brand image. Even if the Facebook users aren’t clicking your ads, the ads are continual visible in their news feed increasing the efficiency and engagement. As a result, which creates opportunities for retargeting in the future.

Experts out there are making some big predictions about how customers will operate in the future. Some analysts say they think close to 50 percent of all searches will be made through voice search by 2020. I’m not sure how accurate predictions like this really are, but I do know that my daughters and the generations that will come after them are growing up in a world where smartwatches and smart speakers are the norm. If you are on WordPress, you may already know how to install the code. If you do not, I would suggest installing a plug-in called “header and footer scripts.” This plug-in will allow you to easily paste code into the header or footer on your website. This is the plug-in that I’m using below and is located under the settings tab after you install it.
When someone visits your website and takes an action (for example, buying something), the Facebook pixel is triggered and reports this action. This way, you'll know when a customer took an action after seeing your Facebook ad. You'll also be able to reach this customer again by using a custom audience. When more and more conversions happen on your website, Facebook gets better at delivering your ads to people who are more likely to take certain actions. This is called conversion optimization.
You can create a Custom Audience from your list, Facebook Pixel data or Facebook SDK to specify the people you want to reach with your remarketing campaign. Your pixel or SDK can automatically add people to a Custom Audience based on the specific actions you’re most interested in targeting, like people who visit your site homepage or people who view a product but do not make a purchase. This can help you create ads that are relevant to where people are in their customer journey. Natasha Bedingfield - Hope
Start with a brand awareness ad that’s simply meant to introduce you to your audience. Sure, some may click and convert immediately, but there’s a good chance many won’t. That’s ok though- you can run a retargeting campaign that shows your ad to users who saved or engaged with your previous ad. At this point, you can focus on conversions or lead generation a little more heavily.

Advertisers can be savvy about using retargeting ads to generate repeat sales by advertising products similar to those that a customer has already purchased. Retargeting serves as a great way to cost-effectively use reminder advertising. Typically, previous customers are more likely to buy from you than someone who has never heard of you, so creating audiences of previous customers is a great way to generate ongoing sales.
